EEUU.- La 22nd Annual Aquaculture Drug Approval Coordination Workshop se realizó en Jackson, los días 9 y 10 de junio. El taller se dio en el marco de la 57th Western Fish Disease Workshop and American Fisheries Society Fish Health Section Executive Committee and Business Meetings. El taller fue organizado por decimonovena vez por el U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Aquatic Animal Drug Approval Partnership (AADAP) Program.
El evento se inició con la presentación del Dr. Jesse Trushenski (Idaho Department of Fish and Game) sobre como los esfuerzos de aprobación de medicamentos para los peces contribuye a la pesquería nacional. El taller incluyó presentaciones técnicas de algunas de las últimas investigaciones que se vienen realizando para sustentar la aprobación, actualización y presentaciones de medicamentos para los peces por parte del Center for Veterinary Medicine de la U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
De particular interés fue: 1) confirmación de la existencia de un nuevo productor de 17-alfa metiltestosterona usado para producir poblaciones monosexo de peces; 2) que los requerimientos de datos podrían volverse más desafiantes para el productor de AQUI-S® 20E (sedante de peces) para ganar una amplia aprobación inicial; y 3) que un nuevo productor de Halamid® Aqua (chloramine-T) es ahora una fuente más consistente del producto.
