The much-anticipated World Aquaculture India 2025 is set to take place on November 10-13, 2025 at Hyderabad International Convention Center – Novotel, bringing together aqua culturist, researchers, and professionals to explore the latest advancements in aquaculture. Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan, Former, Deputy Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Secretary to Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), a distinguished leader in the field of aquaculture and fisheries science, will serve as the plenary speaker at World Aquaculture India 2025. With decades of experience in aquatic research and sustainable aquaculture practices, Dr. Ayyappan has played a pivotal role in shaping aquaculture policies and research initiatives in India and globally. As the former Director of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and a recognized expert in fisheries management, Dr. Ayyappan’s insights and vision for the future of aquaculture will be a key highlight of the event.

Prof. S. Ayyappan, with a Master’s Degree in Fisheries Science, has a Ph.D. in Aquatic Microbiology. His specific areas of research are Fisheries, Freshwater Aquaculture and Aquatic Microbiology. With several assignments during the scientific career for four decades, he has served as the Director, CIFA, Bhubaneswar C CIFE, Mumbai; Deputy Director General (Fisheries), ICAR; Chief Executive, NFDB, Hyderabad; Secretary, DARE, Govt. of India C Director General, ICAR, New Delhi; President, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi; NABARD Chair Professor; Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal; Chairman, KSTA, Bengaluru C NABL, Gurgaon, India.

He has been conferred D.Sc. (honoris causa) by 15 Universities and is a recipient of several awards including Padma Shri, 2022 and Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, 2013. Representing the country in important international fora, the interactions have developed a deep understanding and widened the horizon of his vision of Food C Agriculture, Fisheries C Aquaculture, especially in the Developing countries.
