Aquaculture Africa 2024 Announces a Well-Packed Programme

As preparations for the 3rd Aquaculture Africa Conference (AFRAQ24) enters the homestretch, with about two weeks to go, we are excited to announce the Conference Programme Grid is now live on WAS webpage and will also soon feature on the Programme Book and event app (WAS Meetings Assistant). The Conference which is taking place in Hammamet, Tunisia from 19-22 November 2024, will revolve around the theme “Blue Farming: New Horizons for Economic Growth” and consists of a packed programme covering developmental issues and latest research on aquaculture in Africa. This prestigious event is designed to bridge gaps between theoretical research and practical applications in aquaculture.

AFRAQ24 will gather a diverse audience, including distinguished scholars, pioneering researchers, industry experts, business leaders, policy makers and devoted practitioners. This convergence of diverse minds will facilitate a vibrant exchange of ideas, innovative solutions, and emerging trends across multiple sectors of aquaculture.

A wide array of topics, encompassing African Country Aquaculture Profiles, African Aquaculture Species and Seaweed, Innovative Systems and Practises, Aquatic Animal and Ecosystem Health, Aquafeeds Production and Nutrition, Reproduction and Seed Production, Fish Biology and Environmental Management, Trade and Markets, Climate Change, Finance and Investment, Gender, Youth and many more. This diverse range of subjects reflects the conference’s commitment to addressing Africa’s aquaculture challenges from multiple perspectives. The event will feature a dynamic lineup of presentations, including an Opening Ceremony and Plenary Session to be graced by the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Mr. Ezzedine Ben Chiekh. Other high-level dignitaries from Africa, who include the African Union. A Keynote Address on Mediterranean aquaculture will be delivered by the renowned Dr Constantinos Mylonas from Greece. This will be followed by many other interactive sessions as outlined on the programme – where participants will have the opportunity to present their research, engage in insightful discussions, and collaborate on strategies to advance the field of aquaculture.

There is also a line-up of special sessions by WAS’s partners and conference sponsors such as African Union, WorldFish, World Bank, WISSH, US Grains, GIZ, FAO and many more. Moreover, WAS events always provide meeting points for industry associations, industry panels or B2B meetings, farmers forums, and a range of student activities. Short training courses on Aquaponics and Commercial Aquaculture Management and Aquaculture Students write-up Workshop will be featured at AFRAQ24.
