Super Foods Peru brand to launch at Seafood Expo Global

Brussels, Belgium.- Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) will today launch Super Foods Peru brand at the 2017 Seafood Expo Global, thus promoting the attributes of the South American country’s seafood offer.

Seafood Expo Global, the world’s largest seafood trade fair, takes place in Brussels on April 25-27.

The activity follows on an innovative campaign to promote Peruvian seafood products among global buyers with the world’s toughest standards.

The European fair is part of Super Foods Peru’s international launch stage, which includes 40 activities this year in several food fairs worldwide.

It should be noted Peru’s fishing industry production and exports have come to play a key role in the Andean country’s economy.

US$80 million
 
Led by Peruvian Production Minister Bruno Giuffra, the national delegation also features PromPeru Exports Director Luis Torres, as well as Communications and Country Image Director Isabella Falco.

The 37-strong business entourage expects to hold over 1,700 meetings and close deals valued at more than US$80 million.

Likewise, Promperu’s Brussels agenda includes a set of promotion activities like: meetings with the press, importers, retailers, as well as global fishing industry opinion leaders.

Peruvian seafood quality

Peruvian exporters in Brussels will showcase the Andean country’s rich and high-quality seafood offer, highlighting its origin, careful handling and processing through sustainable, eco-friendly practices.

As part of the national super foods offer, seafoods are rich in vitamins, minerals, protein, unsaturated oils and omega-3, known for its multiple health benefits.

Peru fishing exports

Exports of Peruvian fishery goods for direct human consumption reached US$521 million in 2016. Europe led destination markets, accounting for close to 35% of the total.

Most demanded products were giant squid, Peruvian scallops, shrimps and anchovies.

Seafood Expo Global

Seafood Expo Global brings together more than 26,000 exhibitors and visitors from 144 countries, mostly from Europe, as well as Asia and America.

The event constitutes the ultimate meeting point to close deals and learn about the latest global trends in the field.
