The Editorial Board of the Journal of the World Aquaculture Society is pleased to announce the 2016 Best Paper Awards in the categories of: Review Article, Applied Studies, and Fundamental Studies.

In the category of Fundamental Studies, the 2016 Best Paper Award has been awarded to: Zhao, D., L. Pan, F. Huang, C. Wang, and W. Xu. For their paper entitled: “Effects of Different Carbon Sources on Bioactive Compound Production of Biofloc, Immune Response, Antioxidant Level, and Growth Performance of Litopenaeus vannamei in Zero-water Exchange Culture Tanks”.

In the category of Applied Studies, the 2016 Best Paper Award has been awarded to: Peterson, B.C., C. Flora, M. Wood, B.G. Bosworth, S.M. Quiniou, T.E. Greenway, T.S. Byars, and D.J. Wise For their paper entitled: “Vaccination of Full-sib Channel Catfish Families Against Enteric Septicemia of Catfish with an Oral Live Attenuated Edwardsiella ictaluri Vaccine”.

The 2016 Best Paper Award in the category of Review Article has been awarded to: Boyd, C.E., C.S. Tucker, and B. Somridhivej. For their paper entitled: “Alkalinity and Hardness: Critical but Elusive Concepts in Aquaculture”.
