USA.- NOAA Fisheries, in consultation with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, is pleased to offer interested stakeholders pilot testing for the electronic transmission of harvest and traceability data required for the Seafood Import Monitoring Program.
SIMP established permitting, data reporting, and record-keeping requirements relating to the importation of certain “priority” fish and fish products identified as being particularly vulnerable to IUU fishing and/or seafood fraud. During the pilot stage, participants will be able to test the required data for the import entry filing process through the International Trade Data System for fish and fish products covered under SIMP. January 1, 2018 is the mandatory compliance date for the U.S. Seafood Import Monitoring Program.
Any party seeking to participate in this test should contact their CBP client representative. Interested parties without an assigned client representative should submit an email to John Handy with the subject heading “NMFS SIMP FRN-Request to Participate”.
The pilot test will continue until concluded by publication of a notice in the Federal Register ending the test. Comments on the submission and processing of import data will be accepted throughout the duration of the test here.
